What You Can Write

Feature Articles - Feature are 1,500 to 3,000 words long. It can be an essay with references. Divide the article into several paragraphs without compromising the continuity of thought. Starting paragraph should succinctly highlight the main topic of discussion. End the article with a brief synopsis of the salient issues and your explicit conclusions.

Opinion/Commentary – These are issue-oriented and focused on the your interpretation. We suggest a length of 750 to 2,000 words. References are not mandatory.

Personal Testimony – Personal testimony relates to the author’s own experiences. You are encouraged to write about your travels, interpersonal dialog and other issues that provided motivation or were of great concern to the author. Keep the length between 500 to 1000 words. Do not indulge in name-calling. Be factual. Personal testimony is more effective if readers can identify with your experience. A real-life drama also provides for good reading. It brings emotion to the testimony. Use anecdotes, emotion and first-hand experiences.

Fiction/Poetry – Fiction is storytelling. Your audience will like to read an interesting plot in about 1000 words or more. Short story telling is a challenge. Like any story it has a beginning, the main plot and an end. Children stories are also welcome. We will publish original poems and also interpretative discussion on published works.

Critiquing – Authors can critique published work. Indulge in constructive criticism emphasizing ways to fix the shortcomings. Evaluate the work thoroughly before penning down your thoughts. Keep it short. Length should not exceed 1500 words.

Book Reviews – You can review a published book or article. Stay within a word limit of 750 to 1,500 words. Be factual and avoid emotional responses.

For all categories word limit is a guideline though it can be modified if warranted for a particular submission.
