Stones On The Road

One year ago, SikhSpectrum.com published Marian’s “first attempt in writing to a magazine”. Readers will remember at that time, Marian had shared her travel experiences in the Himalayas where she met three different men from three different faiths. Marian has now published a book and excerpts from it are presented below. It is refreshing to see Marian recognize the “wisdom of the Universe”, which most people overlook today, perhaps unintentionally, caught in mundane chores of a demanding life that has become our destiny. - Editor

We are told from babyhood that stones have no life, let alone mind. Yet one woman dares to challenge this belief. This is the story of her journey, a chronicle of experiences with stones met on the road. By entering their world and opening her heart to them, Marian has been granted beautiful experiences – journeys through inner and outer worlds. Letting the experiences speak their own language, she allows the stones to use her as an amplifier.

Excerpted from Stones On The Road.

If I want to control, I have to focus on myself, to what I need, what I want; I patterned my old life after this sort of thinking. When I surrendered to the Earth, I changed my attitude. Now I ask, “What can I do for you?” All my life, I took from Earth to fulfill my selfish needs. It’s time for me to give back to the Earth, in the way the Earth wants. The paradox is that doing so gives me more pleasure and happiness than I ever received by taking. By letting go of control, the Earth and I both benefit. There are no losers, only winners. That is the wisdom of the Universe….

There are many like me in the world. We are everywhere; we recognize each other across all boundaries. We have our humility in common; we don’t bang the drums to announce our presence. Countless people have talked to me during the last five years, about things not openly discussed. The time has come to reveal ourselves, examine who we are and what we do, and once again, make it a part of our world. It is all natural if it comes from Nature, and it isn’t in man’s destiny to change the natural order of things. We have more than enough to do making our own human laws within our own little countries. The path of the stones is a path of peace.

My experiences won’t hurt anyone. Many may shake their heads, feeling that this is too “far out”; that is their right. Some, however, may be inspired to open up to their own truth and share what they learn. I came to understand that my experiences were never meant to be just for my sake, my pleasure, alone. That was one of the harder pills to swallow. With my experiences came the obligation to communicate with others and tell about my world. I have opened the doors wide and invited all to my house. It’s okay if you don’t like it. You can leave – without slamming the door, please, because this is a house of peace.
